South Africa sends condolences to Sudan following the drowning of school children

The South African Government has, on behalf of the people of South Africa, sent a message of condolences to the Government and the people of the Republic of the Sudan following the deaths of 24 school children as a result of a boat accident in the Nile River.

It is reported that the boat sank on Wednesday, 15 August 2018, amidst heavy rains whilst carrying the children to school.

In the message, government expressed the sadness of the South African people on learning of the tragedy and conveyed our deepest condolences to the families of the deceased.

South Africa and Sudan enjoy good diplomatic and trade ties. The two sister African countries established diplomatic relations in 1994.
