Justice officials summon strike for Monday

Luanda, ANGOLA, May 27 - The Trade Union of Justice Officials (SOJA) last Friday announced a five-day nationwide strike, as from Monday, following successive postponements of agreements during negotiation talks with the government. ,

Speaking to the press, SOJA treasurer Antónia Canganda, said that although the negotiations are running fine, an agreement has not yet been reached because the proposals and pledges made by the Justice minister were not presented on a written memo to be signed by the two parties.

She informed that SOJA position will remain the same, while the organisation’s board are still open to dialogue.

“We cannot call off the strike. When we sign a memo we’ll be in better position to call it off”, said the source.

Meanwhile, speaking to the press, the minister of Justice and Human Rights, Francisco Queiroz, deemed the stance of SOJ A “a lit bit unwise”, because SOJA is not showing availability to seat and negotiate, adding that the trade unionists seem to want to talk only during the period of the strike.

“Since we’ve negotiated and found solutions, plus we’ve reaffirmed our stance to resolve the issue (...), I don’t see the necessity for this strike”, stressed the minister.
