Grizzlies outshoot Rush, 56-28, lose game, 8-3

Rapid City, S.D. • The Rapid City Rush defeated the Utah Grizzlies 8-3 Saturday night at Rushmore Plaza Civic Center.

For the second straight night, Utah set a season high in shots as they outshot the Rush 56-28.

Utah outshot Rapid City 16-8 in the first, 17-12 in the second and 23-8 in the third period as the Rush once again were opportunistic against Utah a night after the Grizzlies outshot them 49-22.

Rapid City built a 3-0 lead after one as they scored on two odd-man rushes and a Utah turnover behind the net. At that point, Angus Redmond replaced Sean Maguire in goal and gave up three in the second period on 10 shots as the nightmarish night continued for Utah.

Jon Puskar (9) got the Grizzlies on the board with less than a second to go in the second period as he took a setup from Kyle Thomas. Taylor Richart also picked up an assist.

Utah and Rapid City traded goals early in the third period with James Melindy (1) scoring for Utah before Austin Ortega (4) finished off the scoring with 2:50 left in regulation.

Sean Maguire re-entered the game and played the third period for Utah.
