PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — With another newly proposed site in Vancouver, In-N-Out Burger looks to be continuing efforts to expand in the Pacific Northwest.

As first reported by The Columbian, the California-founded burger chain submitted a commercial development pre-application with the City of Vancouver on Apr. 15. The 3,800-square foot restaurant would be located in the Fircrest neighborhood on 13511 SE 3rd Way.

The site previously held a Rite Aid, before it closed in January due to the national drugstore filing for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy protection.

In-N-Out’s potential Vancouver drive-thru would be its second location in Clark County. After months of speculation over whether the burger joint would open in Ridgefield, city officials confirmed the company had filed a permit application in late February.

Earlier this month, the restaurant chain announced that its location in the Union Ridge Town Center was slated to open by 2025. The area is also expecting a 150,000-square-foot Costco store, along with a new McDonald’s and Panda Express in Ridgefield Gateway.

In-N-Out is additionally planning to open a restaurant in the Beaverton area. In mid-April, Washington County officials approved the company’s land use application for a drive-thru at 10565 SW Beaverton-Hillsdale Hwy.

The burger chain’s previous attempts to open in unincorporated Washington County were denied due to a land-use issue. More recently, a company representative assured officials that In-N-Out’s “transportation management plan” would address any traffic concerns.

The chain currently has four locations throughout Oregon, the first of which opened in Medford back in 2015.

According to City of Vancouver spokesperson Tim Becker, the pre-application conference for the Vancouver drive-thru is scheduled for May 9.

“The pre-application process is the first step in the land use planning process that the site needs to go through before building permits can be applied for,” Becker explained in an email.
