According to StagWeb.co.uk, demand for Portugal has risen 289% in the last 10 years, with the country becoming more popular than traditional stag party hotspots like Germany, Ireland, Poland, the Czech Republic, and more.
Second to only Spain, a StagWeb spokesperson said that the weather and the war in Ukraine have contributed to its popularity.
“Post-pandemic, after a couple of years not being able to go abroad, we saw a definite shift in stags wanting to go somewhere sunny over traditional stag cities in central and eastern Europe,” said Lucy Close, StagWeb’s Portugal specialist.
“We naturally saw an increase in people looking at Spain and Portugal, then the war in Ukraine also caused uncertainty in that region which led to a big rise in enquiries for places like Albufeira and Lisbon.
“Albufeira is set up for stags with its iconic Strip and outrageous beaches, whilst Lisbon is a cheap capital city compared to a lot of European counterparts, so the stag kitty can go a lot further”.
According to their stats, Albufeira was the second most popular destination, behind Benidorm, with Lisbon in 5th.

Fantastic! What a pleasure it is to see drunk at 10 am loud mouths with their bikini clad hens at continente buying more beer!
Last year in Portimão during the summer concerts, we had the beauty of mounds of garbage everywhere at the strip, public urination, laughing gas bottles everywhere, and especially enjoyed these class A tourists yelling obscenities to us for little to no reason, or even better, telling us how we ahould run things. Bit as our wise mayor says, "it's all in the money they bring!" Of course! Us poor portuguese need that extra euro at any cost, including the massive use of our drought water.
Well done portugal, and especially well done UK tourists!

This is the last thing the Algarve,expecially Albufeira needs.
Loud ugly drunks screaming and shouting as they wander around in matching clothes.
Please spare us and anyone that lives anywhere near where they are staying.

I'm very happy when people come and enjoy our beautiful country, but while they are here they should respect our nature, culture and traditions or we should send them packing and with a massive fine faster than they can say "Gracias."

I recently had my stag do in Portugal - never again! We could not find full English breakfasts served all-day anywhere, and there were no fish and chip shops! And to rub salt in the wounds, no bar had frosty jacks on tap & local barmen even refused to serve my cocktail of creme de menthe & cooking sherry in a pint glass. If Portugal wants to cater for the more discerning tourist, then I suggest these shortfalls are quickly addressed.

Very sad news! This is not the type of statistics that Algarve should be proud of!
I was in Albufeira this winter and I was horrified by the amount of english style bars available to party in the tourist season.In the name of progress we are destroying the town and accepting that this behavior is tottaly normal

@Mark Barber, So you travel to great places and then want it to be the same as staying at home.
If you want an English breakfast then stay in England, but don’t go to a foreign country and tell them how to live, what to do and what to eat. Complete lack of respect for your hosts!

Tony Williams, I think the comments about English breakfasts was the writer being ironic.
Basically the bad British only come here because they are welcomed and catered for the cultured British have rarely come to the Algarve as it has very little to offer in the way of culture and beauty. I'd rather die than go to Albufeira and I can't think of one town worth visiting compared to other areas of europe
