Melania Trump spokesperson calls for boycott of rapper TI over new album video

Melania Trump's spokesperson has called for a boycott against rapper TI after he released a video portraying a woman who looks like the first lady stripping in the Oval Office.

In the video, which TI shared on Twitter with the caption: “Dear 45, I ain’t Kanye,” a woman resembling the first lady enters the Oval Office dressed only in heels and a jacket that reads: “I really don’t care, do u?” - a reference to the controversial jacket worn by Ms Trump earlier in the year during a visit with migrant children in Texas.

The first lady recently said in an interview with ABC News that she wore the jacket to troll reporters.

In response to the video promoting the rapper’s new album, spokesperson to the first lady Stephanie Grisham tweeted: “How is this acceptable? #disgusting #boycottTI."

The first lady appears to agree with her spokesperson, as she retweeted the tweet condemning the rapper and the video, which has been viewed more than 1.6 million times on Twitter.

Grisham’s tweet has also been liked more than 3,000 times by people similarly outraged by the video.

The rapper, an outspoken critic of Donald Trump, announced on Instagram ahead of the video’s release that he would no longer be supporting Kanye West after Mr West met with the president at the White House in a highly-publicised interview.

“This is the most repulsive, disgraceful, embarrassing act of desperation and auctioning off of one’s soul to gain power I’ve ever seen,” TI wrote on Instagram. “At one time it was a pleasure to work alongside you… now, I’m ashamed to have ever been associated with you.”
