PORTLAND, Ore. (KATU) – After nearly two years of design work, Alaska Airlines will reveal its new West Coast-inspired uniform collection for its 23,000 employees at a Fashion show in Seattle Thursday night.

Seattle couture designer Luly Yang is the brain behind the new looks.

The new uniforms will undergo a 60-day wear test by employees from Alaska, Horizon Air and Virgin America. These employees include pilots, flight attendants, customer service agents and lounge concierges.

Alaska plans to conduct a separate test for maintenance and ground operations employees later this year.

After the wear test, the designers will make final tweaks and adjustments before all the uniforms are manufactured in 2019 by Unisync Group.

In celebration of the new uniforms, Alaska Airlines shared dozens of photos showing the evolution of its uniforms from decades past.
