You don’t have to be a fan of President Trump’s mix of anti-globalist, pro-American insult comedy to admit we just found the perfect audience for it:
The United Nations.
If anyone’s ever earned the Full Trump Treatment® it’s the ineptocrats of the U.N. Corrupt, incompetent and openly anti-Semitic — if al-Qaeda, the Mafia and the world’s laziest postal workers teamed up to take over a high school’s debate team, the result would be the United Nations.
And when it’s not useless, it’s dangerous.
I would love it if Trump would treat his U.N. General Assembly speech today like an early-morning tweet storm. (Maybe if we got Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell to sit on the front row?) He could start by looking around the room and simply asking: “What do you people do?”
Despite deploying “peacekeepers,” they certainly don’t keep the peace. Since the Korean Conflict, the U.N. has played the “mammary glands on a male bovine” role in most of the world’s conflicts. From the killing fields of Cambodia to the genocide of Rwanda to the mess that is Syria today, the U.N. has allowed mass murder on its watch again and again. The U.N. is so weak, it can’t even protect its own members (Ukraine) from each other (Russia).
North Korea violates U.N. resolutions every other day, China ignores international law, Iran openly funds terrorists, Syria uses chemical weapons … and the U.N. spends its time passing resolutions denouncing Israel for refusing to commit mass suicide.
Do I exaggerate? In 2006, the first year the U.N. Human Rights Council was in existence, it passed 12 country-specific resolutions. Nine of them attacked Israel.
Last year the UNHRC joined the odious anti-Israel BDS (boycott, divest and sanction) movement, creating a blacklist of companies that do business in the West Bank and East Jerusalem. This attack on Israel passed unanimously because every European Union member on the committee found the courage to abstain.
U.N. defenders offer the lamest of defenses: As bad as it is, what would happen to the world without it? Well, for one thing there would be less child rape and sex trafficking.
“There was an alleged pedophile ring in the Democratic Republic of Congo, U.N. police officers in Bosnia were paying for prostitutes and trafficking young women from Eastern Europe, and Pakistani peacekeepers were found guilty of sexual abuse in Haiti,” Cathy Newman writes in the Telegraph.
In 2013, U.N. troops from France, Gabon and Burundi operating in the Central African Republic sexually abused more than 100 girls under their watch, including reports of “forced bestiality.”
The problem is so widespread the U.N. issued its own report on the “abhorrent acts” committed by its forces.
When U.N. “peacekeepers” aren’t attacking women and children, they’re often refusing to defend them. Last year a group of U.N. peacekeepers in South Sudan “ignored the rape and assault of aid workers” just down the street from them, according to the Associated Press. Some of the victims were Americans.
And of course the most horrific act of genocide in Europe since the end of World War II, Srebrenica, occurred as armed U.N. peacekeepers did nothing.
If the U.N. were made up of decent people, they would be too ashamed to show up for work every morning. Instead it’s made up of low-level globalist grifters looking for their cut of the $3 billion that Americans kick in to the U.N. budget every year — more than 185 other countries combined, according to the Brett Schaefer of the Heritage Foundation.
Well, to paraphrase Ronald Reagan from the 1980 GOP primary, you paid for that microphone, Mr. President. Use it.
Use it to make us proud … by being the embarrassing, insulting agent of affrontery we know you can be. And that the U.N. deserves.
